Roughly how far out things are

  • Inside the city: minutes.
  • Agua Fria, La Cienega, Tesuque: about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Eldorado, Lamy, Glorieta: about 15 to 25 minutes.
  • Cerrillos, Madrid, Galisteo, Pojoaque: about 20 to 35 minutes.
  • Nambé, Española, Los Alamos, Chimayó: about 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Edgewood: about 45 minutes.

Those are drive times, not response times. For an active leak the goal is same day or next day anywhere on this list.

Why the county splits into different mold problems

Santa Fe County covers a lot of ground and a lot of elevation, and the causes change as you move across it.

  • The city and the mesa communities are dominated by flat roofs, parapets, canales and cement stucco over adobe.
  • The northern valley, meaning Pojoaque, Nambé, Chimayó and Española, is lower, hotter and irrigated, so evaporative cooler humidity and ground moisture take over.
  • The wet pockets, above all La Cienega and the Tesuque creek bottom, add a genuine groundwater component that the rest of the county does not have.
  • The mountains, meaning Glorieta and the higher foothills, are about snow, ice dams and deep shade.
  • The basin and the east, meaning Galisteo, Lamy, Cerrillos, Madrid and Edgewood, are about arroyo runoff, wind-driven rain, wells and buildings nobody is watching.
  • Los Alamos is its own case: wartime-era housing, real basements and serious snow.

That is why there is a separate page for each place rather than one page with a list of city names on it.

Common questions

Is there a travel charge for outlying areas?

No. Everywhere listed on this page is covered with no travel charge.

Do you cover Taos or Albuquerque?

Not routinely. The service area is Santa Fe County plus Los Alamos, White Rock, Española and the immediately adjacent communities. Call and ask if you are just outside it.

How fast can somebody reach Edgewood or Chimayó?

Same day or next day for an active leak. Those are the longest drives in the service area, around 45 minutes, and there is still no travel charge.

Do you work on pueblo land?

Work on tribal land may involve tribal permitting and its own requirements. Call and describe the property and we will be straight with you about what is involved.
